One day, a plot bunny came up to me and said, "You will write a series of stories based on the songs from "My Fair Lady"". When I refused, he ran up and kicked me in the shins. So I agreed. This is a work in progress, but I am going to finish this thing, even if it kills me. This first part is rated PG-13, I suppose, but the entire series will be rated NC-17.

Disclaimer: I don't own Peachy Ray or Angelic Benny, Alliance does. I am neither Lerner nor Lowe so I don't own "My Fair Lady".

My Fair Benny

Part 1: Wouldn't It Be Loverly?

Someone's 'ead restin' on my knee,
Warm an' tender as 'e can be,
'ho takes good care of me.
Aow, wouldn't it be loverly?

"Ray, I have something to tell you." Fraser licked his lips nervously. They had just been out to diner, a fine French restaurant, and were now sipping on wine in his spartan apartment.

"Yes, Benny?" Ray looked up. His eyes were more green than brown. They seemed to glow in the low light.

"Well, I... um... That is..."

"Is it so hard to say, Benny?" Ray said as he moved to sit next to Fraser on the bed.

Fraser looked into those beautiful eyes and gently smiling face. "I love you, Ray Vecchio."

Ray's smile became wider. "I love you too, Benton Fraser."

Their lips touched, gently at first and then deepened. They fell back into the bed, Fraser allowing Ray to kiss his fill. He'd do anything for Ray, anything Ray wanted from him.

"Oh Benny, Benny. Benny? Benny? Benny! FRASER!"

Fraser's eyes snapped open. Ray was standing in front of him, waving his hands in annoyance. Others in the bullpen were glancing at them in curiosity.

"Sorry, Ray," he said, flushing brightly.

"Come on, Fraser. It's time to take you home." Ray turned sharply, leaving Fraser to follow. Fraser put his hat on and followed.

"What a dink!" He heard someone whisper laughingly. His face felt hotter.

Diefenbaker fell into step next to him, growling at the laughing girls. They backed up in surprise and slight fear. He woofed lightly, showing them who was in charge.

In the car, Ray was silent, driving on autopilot as he thought and rethought the conversation ahead. Fraser kept his eyes fixed out the window, twirling his Stetson in his hands. Dief whined lightly in the backseat.

"May I come up, Benny?" Ray asked.

"Of course, Ray," he replied, voice calm though he was on edge.

Once inside the apartment, Fraser asked, "Would you like some coffee, Ray?"

"Yes, please, Benny." Ray looked relieved.

Coffee and tea made, Ray sat at the kitchen table, and Fraser sat on the bed. He wanted to tell Ray how he felt. He was almost sure that Ray felt the same, but that was his heart speaking, while his head reminded him of his many failures.

"Benny?"

"Yes, Ray?"

"I have something to tell you." Ray looked around nervously.

Fraser's heart sped up. His face and body felt flushed, and he felt excited, elated, and nervous at the same time.

Ray watched those eyes brighten to a brilliant blue and the already angelic face soften with delight. He knew that Fraser would be happy for him, he thought, then chastised himself for his ingratitude.

"I'm getting married, Benny."

Those pink lips parted in surprise. Married! Oh, no!

Ray swallowed, but smiled happily. "To Rachel Bellissima."

For a moment there was no change in his expression, but then Fraser's lips closed, and his head shot back as if he had been struck. Where there had been an excited flush three seconds ago, a paleness had taken it's place. He raked a shaky nail over his eyebrow.

"Congratulations, Ray," he said with an equally shaky voice.

Ray watched Fraser blink several times, and became confused. He had not known what to expect, a little disappointment maybe, but not this. Benny had just been happy for him a second ago.

He went over to Fraser, and put his hand on his red shoulder. "I'm sorry, Benny, springing this on you and all, but it was so sudden."

Fraser composed his face long enough to look up. He gave Ray a smile. "I'm glad you are happy, Ray." Ray felt Benny sever their indescribable mental bond, something that had not happened in a very long time.

"Are you okay, Benny?"

"I'm perfectly fine, Ray."

Ray could have kicked himself at that moment, but he kept his voice light, not wanting to add anything more to Benny's odd behavior. "I'll be here tomorrow, Benny."

Fraser's head drooped down. "That's fine, Ray. Until tomorrow then."

Ray realized with some surprise that he had just been dismissed. He set his coffee cup down and left.

Fraser waited for the dissipating sound of Ray's Riv before moving. Diefenbaker jumped up onto the bed, curling next to his pack mate. Fraser turned and buried his face into the fluffy fur, inhaling his friend's comforting scent. Dief put his head on Fraser's knee, and offered his assistance. He felt the high keens pour into his side.

Someone's 'ead restin' on my knee,
Warm an' tender as 'e can be,
'ho takes good care of me.
Aow, wouldn't it be loverly?
